Injured or knocked-out tooth

Teeth are often injured in falls, sports and road accidents. What you do in the first hour makes a real difference.

Call the clinic straight away on 080 4113 1161. The sooner an injured tooth is treated, the better the chance of keeping it.

What to do right now

An adult tooth knocked out

  • Pick it up by the crown, the white part. Do not touch the root.
  • If it is dirty, rinse it briefly in milk or clean water. Do not scrub it.
  • If you can, push it gently back into its socket and bite on a clean cloth to hold it.
  • If not, keep it in a cup of milk and come in at once.

A piece broken off

  • Keep the broken piece and bring it with you.
  • Rinse your mouth with water and hold a cold pack on your cheek for swelling.

A tooth pushed out of place or loose

  • Do not try to wiggle or force it. Come in as soon as you can.

How we help

Dr. Vinod uses the latest treatments to save injured natural teeth. An injured tooth can look fine at first while the nerve inside slowly dies, so we check it again over the following months with X-rays.
